I was very grateful to get an email from site founder ‘Taff’ Isaacs who had received word that all the Francis Barnett bikes that had been in the Manufacturers Award team in the ISDT 1954 and 1955 were still alive and had been gathered together and to prove it sent me the pictures. A truly incredible sight not only their current condition but that all three have survived the 60 years since they competed in 1954
The only text I have is from the email to Taff from originator of the photos John Harding and I hope we can get more details shortly.
Taff ,
thought you might like to see the FB works manufacturers team bikes from the 1954 and 1955 ISDT
ridden by Ernie Smith MHP 469, George Fisher MHP 470 and Dick Kemp MHP 471
469 and 470 are as competed in 1955 as 197cc
471 is as competed in 1954 as 175cc
Unfortunately I only own one of them !(MHP 470)
They shared the works team medal with BSA in 1954 ,
Last 3 pictures are 469, 470 and 471 in order Dick Kemp’s bike was No 82 , not sure what the others were in 1954
I would like to know their riding numbers for 1955 if you have this info ?
Editor’s note: An image of one of these bikes from 1955 can be found on the http://www.stilltimecollection.co.uk for one of these bikes
